About us
When Two Worlds Met

We met in southern India – Alice was learning Tamil and traditional Indian dance, and Anbu was working as a filmmaker. We were drawn together by a love of travel, different cultures, and above all, a shared dream of living closer to nature. For a while, we dreamed about building an eco-farm for travelers in India, but in the end, life brought us back to the Czech Republic. When we were expecting our first daughter, we settled in Prague and kept dreaming about a peaceful home in nature – a place we could live our own way and also share with others.

A Home Called Mezi Jeleny
We discovered Jelení by chance – a forgotten valley in the rugged Krušné Mountains, where no one had lived for decades. But something about the place spoke to us. When we first arrived, we knew this was it. A year later, we bought the large, long-abandoned house, restored one room, and moved in right in the middle of winter. Just one month later, our second daughter was born.
Mezi Jeleny ("Among the Deer") grew out of a desire to live simply and in harmony with nature. It became a warm and humble guesthouse for people who value authenticity over luxury. We built everything together with volunteers from all over the world – more than ten years now. It's not for everyone, but those who love it, truly love it :-)

People often say we're a bit crazy. But really, we just followed what felt right – and along the way, Mezi Jeleny became home not only for us, but for many others too.
A New Chapter: Yurts Among the Olives
After ten years of building and running Mezi Jeleny, we felt ready to open a new chapter. Living in the mountains taught us so much and gave us the courage to take on a new adventure. We've always loved travel, and the Mediterranean island of Sardinia charmed us with its wild beauty – much like Jelení once did. So we decided to create a second home there: a small farm and yurt camp among the olive trees, called Allora Sardinia. "Allora" means something like "so then…" or "well then…" – and for us, it became the perfect symbol of a new beginning. It also happened to be the word we heard most often from the farm owners when we first visited and tried to understand each other – "Allora, allora…" :-)

When we started planning this new phase of life, we had to ask: what happens to Mezi Jeleny? Our first thought was to sell and start fresh. But we couldn't. This place means too much – ten years of memories, raising our kids, building a home, a life, a story. So we started looking for ways to keep Mezi Jeleny alive while also creating a new beginning in Sardinia.
That's how the idea for Klub Mezi Jeleny was born – a community of friends and supporters who help us, and in return, receive ten years of stays, discounts, and shared memories.
Most importantly: Mezi Jeleny will stay. It will be cared for by a like-minded family who will look after the house while we're mostly in Sardinia. The house in the mountains will continue welcoming guests, just like it always has – and all the extra income will go straight back into repairs and maintenance.
